The Project maintains a modest staff primarily composed of recent college graduates dedicated to the PVS mission of voter education and candidate accountability. All staff commit to work through the next general election, at a minimal salary. Job Title: Membership Assistant

Job Description: The Membership Assistant will serve as part of Project Vote Smart's fundraising and member services team.

Responsibilities Include:
-Data entry, database maintenance and troubleshooting of member tracking software;
-Organization and maintenance of paper and electronic files of individual members/prospects, member correspondence and acknowledgements;
-Research ways of expanding our membership base and improving our membership services.

We are seeking applicants with a strong background in Political Science, experience in researching political issues, and a solid knowledge of current events. The applicant must be detail-oriented, have strong written and oral communication skills, and be dedicated to the Project's mission.



Job Title: Research Assistant

Job Description: Project Vote Smart is hiring Researh Assistants for the 2008 Election Cycle. We are seeking applicants with a strong background in Political Science, experience in researching political issues, and a solid knowledge of current events. The applicant must be detail-oriented, have strong oral communication skills, and be dedicated to the Project's mission of voter education and candidate accountability. We are also seeking a few applicants with experience in fundraising, press or graphic design.

Project Vote Smart's staff is composed of highly committed, idealistic recent college graduates. The wages are low, but we offer an extraordinary experience in an extraordinary place.


Job Title: Information Technology Assistant

Job Location: Philipsburg, MT
Job Description: Located high in the Montana Rocky Mountains, at an exclusive retreat research center, the Project is seeking Information Technology Staff with a keen interest in the political process.

Responsibilities
* Monitor, maintain, and expand the Project's website
* Maintain current applications and assist in future development
* Provide technical troubleshooting

Requirements:
* Experience supporting users
* Working knowledge of UNIX/Linux

Attributes preferred:
* Familiarity with scripting/programming (bash, perl, python, java, C/C++)
* BS/MS or equivalent
* Familiarity with webservers, DNS, MTAs, and firewalls
* Experience with web technologies (PHP, XML, JSP, Perl)
* Proficiency in SQL and database design principles


Job Title: Lodge Manager/Cook

Job Location: Philipsburg, MT
Job Description: We are currently seeking a Lodge Manger/Cook to work from May through September of this year. This individual will be responsible for preparing meals for 50-60 people on weekends and will spend remaing time serving as a lodge manager/resident advisor to student interns, member volunteers and staff.

Project Vote Smart houses and feeds up to 60 people within its dining and living facilities. A Lodge Management Team, made up of 1-2 Cooks and a Lodge Manager oversee this. Similar to a camp atmosphere and working environment, this team works to ensure upkeep and cleanliness of the buildings, and provide an appropriate living and eating environment for student interns and member volunteers. The pay is low, but the experience will last a lifetime. This is a seasonal position but fulltime employment within the Project's other departments may be availble upon completion.

Qualifications:
Applicants should enjoy working with young people and have experience cooking for vegetarians and large groups. Experience in restaurant/hotel management helpful.
