College Admission for Undocumented Immigrants

Project Vote Smart's Synopsis: Vote to pass a bill that prohibits undocumented immigrants and those who have failed to register for the selective service, if required, from enrolling in any public Virginia college or university; provides that any student who has met the education requirements set by the Board of Education for a high school diploma is to be considered for admission, regardless of their public high schools accreditation status; and gives the governing boards of four-year institutions the power to establish rules, regulations, and admissions policies as specified.
Official Title of Legislation: A bill to amend and reenact § 23-9.2:3 of the Code of Virginia, relating to the admission of illegal aliens at institutions of higher education.
Official Synopsis: Provides that an alien who is unlawfully present in the United States shall not be eligible for enrollment in any public institution of higher education in the Commonwealth. This bill incorporates H.B. 892.
