Reporting Missing Firearms

Project Vote Smart's Synopsis: Vote to pass an Amendment to HB 1845 that requires gun owners to report lost or stolen firearms to law enforcement within three days of discovering that their firearms are missing.
Highlights: - Establishes the following penalties for failing to report a lost or stolen firearm: (1) summary offense for a first violation; (2) first degree misdemeanor for a second offense; and (3) third-degree felony for a third or subsequent offense [sec. 4 (b)].
- Requires the Pennsylvania State Police to distribute a written notice to every licensed firearm dealer explaining firearm transfer laws, including the mandatory reporting of lost or stolen firearms [sec. 2 (a)].
