Income Limit for Subsidies to Farmers

Project Vote Smart's Synopsis: Vote to adopt an amendment that would grant subsidies to part-time farmers, ranchers, or foresters with an average adjusted gross income that does not exceed $250,000 and to full-time farmers, ranchers, or foresters with an average adjusted gross income that does not exceed $750,000 and would increase funding for certain programs.
NOTE: THIS LEGISLATION NEEDED A THREE-FIFTHS MAJORITY VOTE TO PASS.
Official Title of Legislation: S Amdt 3810 to S Amdt 3500 to HR 2419: To improve the adjusted gross income limitation and use the savings to provide additional funding for certain programs and reduce the Federal deficit.
Highlights: - Increases funding for certain programs, including an additional $100.00 million for beginning farmer and rancher development programs over fiscal years 2013 through 2017, an additional $20.00 million for organic agriculture research over fiscal years 2013 through 2014, an additional $70.00 million for grants for state initiatives to improve broadband service over fiscal years 2009 through 2017, and an additional $40.00 million for biomass crop transition assistance programs over fiscal years 2009 through 2012.
