VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE

If registering to vote by mail, must register at least 30 days before the election.
If registering to vote in person, must register at least 20 days before the election.
Can change or select party affiliation 30 days before the election.

QUALIFICATIONS

To register to vote in the State of Nevada, an individual must meet the following qualifications:
• Be at least 18 years of age at the time of the election
• Be a U.S. citizen
• Be a resident of Nevada for 30 days preceding any election
• Not been declared by a court to be mentally incompetent

•  Felons who have not been restored to their civil rights are not eligible to register and vote; however, recent legislation has provided for automatic restoration of the right to vote for those who have been honorably discharged from prison, probation or parole, with certain exceptions related to the seriousness of the crime committed. OBTAINING A VOTER REGISTRATION FORM

Can register to vote in person or obtain a mail-in application from:
• County Election Offices
• Department of Motor Vehicles
• Social service agencies
• College campuses

Nevada law does not provide for online voter registration. However, you may obtain a copy of the federal voter registration application online at: http://www.eac.gov/files/voter/nvra-update-09-12-06.pdf.

Who Can Absentee Vote in Nevada?

Any registered voter may request to vote by mail.

How Can I Acquire an Absentee Ballot?

To request an absent ballot, you must complete and submit an absent ballot request form, which may be obtained from your local county election official (contact information)

The absent ballot request form must be received by your local county election official by the appropriate deadline. 

All absent ballots must be received by 7 p.m. on Election Day in order to be counted.

Nevada also offers early voting. Early voting in Nevada allows registered voters to cast their ballots as early as two weeks prior to Election Day.

The voted ballot may be hand-delivered or mailed to the County Election Office, but it must be returned no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day.

Emergency Absentee Voting:

Nevada has an emergency absentee voting program. An absent ballot can be brought to you at a hospital or other medical facility in certain emergency circumstances. Requests for an emergency absent ballot must be made in writing and submitted any time before 5:00 p.m. on the day of the election. Such requests must be due to an illness or disability resulting in confinement to a medical facility (includes nursing homes), sudden hospitalization, serious illness, or being called away from home after the time has elapsed for requesting a standard absentee ballot.
