Voter Registration Information for Idaho




VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE

By mail a person must register to vote 25 days before the election
Can select party affiliation at the polls.

QUALIFICATIONS

To register to vote in the State of Idaho, an individual must meet the following qualifications:
• Citizen of the United States
• 18 years of age or older
• Have been a resident of Idaho and the county for 30 days

OBTAINING A VOTER REGISTRATION FORM

Any person who is eligible to vote may register on Election Day by appearing in person at the polling place for the precinct in which he maintains residence and:
• By completing a registration card
• Making an oath in the form prescribed by the Secretary of State
• Providing any document which contains a valid address in the precinct
• Providing a photo I.D. card

Who Can Absentee Vote in Idaho?

Any registered voter may vote by absentee ballot.

How Can I Acquire an Absentee Ballot?

Those interested in voting absentee must apply for an absentee ballot to the County Clerk. Application forms can be obtained by writing, calling, or visiting the County Clerk's office (contact information).

Applications will be accepted as late as the sixth day prior to the election.

Voting before Election Day at an absentee polling place is also available. Contact your County Clerk for dates, times and location of the absentee polling place in your county.

How do I Return the Absentee Ballot and What is the Deadline?

In order to be counted, the completed absentee ballot must be received by the County Clerk by 5 p.m. on the day before the election. The ballot may be mailed or hand-delivered.
